The drive from Torrance, CA is about three and a half hours. It might seem like a long trip for a hike, but it’s not. The experience is worth it.
2. Fort Tejon – Lebec, CAIf you like American history or Civil War reenactments then Fort Tejon should be on your list of places to visit in California. Fort Tejon is a historic state park that put on a bunch of events that range from Civil War reenactments to candle-lit ghost tours to cannon shows. It’s about a two and a half hour drive from Torrance, CA.
3. The Salton Sea, CAThe Salton Sea was a man-made lake that once brought in many tourists, boaters and fishermen but years ago it flooded and took hotels and houses with it. It’s a unique site to see. Is it worth the four hour drive from Torrance, CA? That’s up to you to decide, but we like it.
4. The Cabazon Dinosaurs – Cabazon, CACabazon, CA is home to a three-story concrete T-rex and a 150 ft-long Apatosaurus. These are the biggest dinos in the world and are owned by a group that also have a museum of animatronic dinosaurs. This is definitely a place to see if you have kids. The three hour drive from Torrance, CA might seem like a steep trip for concrete dinosaurs but your kids probably won’t think so.
4. Salvation Mountain – Niland, CAWhether you believe in God or not, Salvation Mountain is a unique and creative piece of art. Paint, design and scripture cover a rocky desert hill. If you like art, it’s worth a visit, even when the drive is four hours from Torrance, CA.
